Sanchez went down in a heap following a particularly robust challenge from James McClean
before the break at the Hawthorns but the
forward remained on the field.
Wenger explained his decision to bring Sanchez off in the 78th minute, confirming that the
Chilean had sustained an ankle injury, but the Gunners boss admitted he should have brought
him off earlier.
‘He should not have played in the second half,’ the 67-year-old Arsenal manager told the
media
after the Premier League clash. He insisted. In the end we had to take him off.’
Petr Cech was also forced off after suffering a calf injury in the first-half against Tony Pulis’ men.
